Detailed itinerary
Day 1 · Arrival
Airport welcome; hotel transfer.
Your guide coordinates the meeting point and transfers around your confirmed travel arrangements. Leave the remainder of the day flexible for check-in, rest and any local walk you choose.
Day 2 · Imperial geometry
Forbidden City; Jingshan Park.
Walk through successive gates and courtyards, comparing ceremonial spaces with the more intimate residential areas. Your guide connects the palace layout, roof decoration and imperial symbolism with the lives of its former residents.
Climb the park’s stepped paths for a view across the palace roofs. This elevated perspective helps you understand the city’s north–south alignment; a lower-level park visit is possible if you prefer fewer steps.
Day 3 · Engineering the frontier
Jinshanling Great Wall.
Follow the ridge between watchtowers at a pace matched to your experience. Steep stairways and uneven masonry require grippy shoes; your guide selects an entrance, exit and walking distance appropriate to the day’s conditions.
Day 4 · Sacred spaces & royal leisure
Temple of Heaven; Lama Temple; Summer Palace.
Explore the ceremonial architecture and park setting. Notice the circular forms, blue roof tiles and relationship between the principal structures; the surrounding paths also offer glimpses of everyday recreation.
Spend time beside Kunming Lake and among the covered walkways and landscaped grounds. Your guide explains how architecture, water and hills form a royal retreat. Boat rides depend on season and operating conditions.
Day 5 · Modern design
Shougang Park; National Centre for the Performing Arts; Shijia Hutong Museum; China World Trade Center observation deck.
Explore the old lanes at an unhurried pace, noticing courtyard entrances and neighborhood businesses. Courtyard visits, rickshaws and workshops need advance arrangements rather than being assumed available on arrival.
See how a former industrial site has been repurposed, with old steelworks structures standing beside contemporary public spaces. The visit adds a different perspective to a journey focused on palaces and temples.
Day 6 · Departure
Airport transfer; Daxing architecture if departing from Daxing and time permits.
Your guide coordinates the meeting point and transfers around your confirmed travel arrangements. Leave the remainder of the day flexible for check-in, rest and any local walk you choose.
